UPSC Civil Services 2023 Results Announced: Aditya Srivastava Tops the Chart

This year's examination saw a total of 1,016 candidates being recommended for various central government services, including the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). Among these successful candidates, the top 25 included 10 women and 15 men, showcasing a diverse field of education ranging from engineering and humanities to law and architecture from some of the country’s top institutions.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the results of the 2023 Civil Services Examination on April 16. Aditya Srivastava, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, has clinched the top spot, excelling in the examination with Electrical Engineering as his optional subject.

Following closely are Animesh Pradhan, a B.Tech graduate in Computer Science from NIT Rourkela, and Donuru Ananya Reddy, who studied B.A. (Hons.) in Geography at Miranda House, Delhi University. They have secured the second and third ranks, respectively, with Pradhan choosing Sociology and Reddy opting for Anthropology as their optional subjects.

Diversity and Inclusion in Results

The UPSC highlighted the representation across different sections of society. Out of the successful candidates, 115 belong to the economically weaker section, 303 to Other Backward Classes, 165 to Scheduled Castes, and 86 to Scheduled Tribes. There are also 30 persons with benchmark disabilities who have cleared the examination, including individuals who are orthopedically handicapped, visually challenged, and hearing impaired.

Statistical Insights and Future Steps

Over a million candidates had applied for the preliminary round of the examination, held on May 28, 2023, with around 592,141 appearing. Post-prelims, 14,624 candidates were deemed eligible for the mains held in September, with 2,855 advancing to the personality test stage.

The UPSC has reported filling a total of 1,143 vacancies this year across various services, with an additional 240 candidates placed on a reserved list. Furthermore, the candidature of 355 recommended candidates remains provisional pending further verification.

Accessibility and Transparency

The UPSC remains committed to transparency and accessibility, operating a Facilitation Counter on its campus where candidates can seek information or clarification regarding examinations and recruitment. This counter is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00, with assistance available both in person and over the phone.

Candidates can expect their marks to be available on the UPSC’s official website within 15 days from the date of the result declaration.
