Union Minister Anurag Thakur visited Jammu today to campaign for Jugal Kishore Sharma, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Jammu. Thakur emphasized the achievements of the BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly highlighting the abrogation of Article 370A, the reduction in terrorist activities, and the development projects initiated in the region.

During his speech, Thakur credited the strong government at the Centre for the positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir. He mentioned a significant decrease in stone-pelting incidents and separatist activities, along with a 75% reduction in terrorist activities and around 50% fewer deaths of security forces personnel. Thakur attributed these improvements to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Thakur also highlighted the developmental projects undertaken by the government in Jammu and Kashmir, including the construction of a six-lane expressway, the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM), and the setting up of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the region. He expressed confidence in the BJP’s commitment to further development in Jammu and Kashmir.
The campaigning by Anurag Thakur underscores the BJP’s focus on its achievements in Jammu and Kashmir as a key electoral strategy. The region, which has witnessed significant political developments in recent years, remains a crucial battleground in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
