Rahul Gandhi Files Nomination Papers From Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat

Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi and other senior party leaders including AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, submitted his nomination papers to the Wayanad District Collector who is also the Returning Officer.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi submitted his nomination papers for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala today. He was accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi and other senior party leaders, including AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, as he submitted the papers to the Wayanad District Collector, who also serves as the Returning Officer.

After the submission, he recited the oath to uphold the Constitution, marking the completion of the submission process.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Wayanad via helicopter in the morning and conducted a roadshow from Kalpetta to Civil Station before proceeding to the District Collector’s office to file his nomination.

Before reaching the collector’s office, he addressed the public at the conclusion of the roadshow, expressing solidarity with the people of Wayanad on various issues, including human-animal conflicts prevalent in the high range district.

As the incumbent MP of Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his commitment to representing the concerns of the hill constituency on national and global platforms.

Rahul Gandhi is set to contest against BJP state president K Surendran and CPI leader Annie Raja in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. He secured a significant victory in 2019, winning by a margin of over four lakh votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi garnered 7,06,367 votes out of a total of 10,92,197, with his closest competitor, CPI’s P P Suneer, receiving 2,74,597 votes.

Voting in Kerala for the Lok Sabha elections this year is scheduled for April 26th.
