Days following the electoral setbacks in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge conducted a comprehensive review meeting on Friday to delve into the factors contributing to the party’s defeat in the two states.

Madhya Pradesh Review Meeting at Party Headquarters

Chaired by Kharge at the party headquarters, the review meeting for Madhya Pradesh included prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, Kamal Nath, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Jitendra Singh, Digvijaya Singh, and other senior leaders. The discussion focused on a seat-wise analysis of the critical factors behind the Congress’s underwhelming performance, securing only 66 out of 230 seats.

Chhattisgarh Analysis with Rahul Gandhi in Attendance

The Chhattisgarh review meeting, attended by Rahul Gandhi, Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Kumari Selja, Bhupesh Baghel, TS Singh Deo, and others, aimed to dissect the reasons behind the party’s loss in the mineral-rich state. Kharge and Rahul Gandhi engaged with state leaders in a discussion lasting over an hour.

Following the meeting, Kumari Selja addressed the media, expressing sadness but emphasizing resilience. She stated, “Lok Sabha elections are coming, and we have apprised the leadership that we will contest unitedly.”

While the recently concluded assembly elections saw Congress facing defeat in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the party found consolation in Telangana, where it formed the government for the first time since the state’s inception in 2014.
