IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad Secure Nail-Biting Victory Against Punjab Kings

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has secured their third win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The team defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 2 runs in the 23rd match of the current season.

On Tuesday at the Maharaja Yadavendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mohali, Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Hyderabad scored 182 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab’s team could score 180 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

SRH’s Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 64 runs off 37 balls. He scored his first fifty in IPL. Abdul Samad scored 25 runs. Arshdeep Singh took 4 wickets from Punjab. Harshal Patel got two wickets.

For PBKS, Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 46 and Ashutosh Sharma scored an unbeaten 33. Sam Karan contributed 29 and Sikandar Raza contributed 28 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar got two wickets from SRH.

Three catches were missed in the last over. Ashutosh Sharma missed catching Nitish Reddy’s first ball of the over. Sharma tried to catch the ball near midwicket. Nitish Reddy, who was near the boundary, also tried but couldn’t catch it. On the second ball, Abdul Samad also missed catching Ashutosh Sharma’s shot. The third catch, at midwicket, was dropped by Rahul Tripathi when Ashutosh Sharma hit the ball. Despite these missed chances, Hyderabad managed to protect their score and win the match by 2 runs.
