Countless users worldwide are currently facing a frustrating hurdle in staying connected with their friends and loved ones due to a widespread outage of the messaging platform.
Our independent verification confirms the severity of the issue. Attempting to send a message results only in a clock icon next to the message, signifying that it remains unsent. The number of outage reports is rapidly escalating, as evidenced by the surge in reports on Down Detector, a prominent real-time outage tracking website, as depicted in the accompanying screenshot.

The outage appears to have commenced around 11:40 PM IST. Initially, Meta’s status page made no mention of any server-related issues. However, it has since been updated to acknowledge the ongoing disruptions. Furthermore, the WhatsApp Business API Status has been revised to indicate “Major disruptions: Cloud API,” confirming the extent of the problem. The accompanying error message reads, “We are currently experiencing an outage impacting service on Cloud API.”

Notably, Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta services do not appear to be affected by server outages at the time of writing.
