The Special Court issues an arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna, the current MP for Hassan, on 18 May, upon request from the Special Investigation Team (SIT). This action follows a complaint filed on April 28 at the Holenarsipur Town Police Station implicating him and his father, JD(S) MLA H.D. Revanna, in connection with alleged criminal activity.

Fleeing the Country

Prajwal Revanna, who was the NDA’s Lok Sabha candidate from (Hassan) Karnataka reportedly left the country on 26th April. This departure followed the circulation of pen drives containing several video clips purportedly showing his involvement in the alleged crimes within his constituency.

The accusations against Prajwal Revanna have led to the registration of three FIRs on charges including sexual violence and kidnapping. These cases involve both the local Hassan district police and the Central Investigation Department (CID), highlighting the serious nature of the allegations.

The search for Prajwal Revanna extends beyond national borders, with the CBI issuing a Blue Corner notice against him. The notice, issued in 196 countries, underscores the international scope of the investigation and the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case.

Revealed Identities

The scandal surrounding Prajwal Revanna took a turn when thousands of intimate videos and photographs involving him were leaked by unidentified individuals. This breach of privacy also exposed the identities of the women allegedly harassed by the politician.

Legal Implications

The issuance of the arrest warrant against Prajwal Revanna triggers legal mechanisms that could result in the revocation of his diplomatic passport. Sections 10(3)(d) and (e) of the Passport Act empower authorities to take such actions in cases involving moral turpitude or pending criminal proceedings.

Public Demanding Arrest

News of the arrest warrant has sparked widespread public outcry, with many calling on the Modi government to take swift action in revoking Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport. This highlights the public’s demand for accountability and justice in cases of alleged sexual abuse involving public figures.
